Community Art Project:

METADATA-START

It was such a pleasure working with you Kez.

The young people and staff love it when you’re here.

You bring something really special to the refuge every time you come.

It will be great to have another mural on the wall.   Manager EYA

A year after Kez completed a Mural with residents of a Youth Refuge, the Refuge had received so much positive feedback from Visitors, Staff , current and past residents, that they asked her back to complete another one.  Working with the young residents, Kez runs workshops over a series of weeks where the young people design the theme and scene of the Mural and then paint it.  Some of the feedback from current and previous young residents involved in the Mural said they had a chance to share their story, leave their legacy, have a voice and inspire other young people who stay with a message of strength through adversity and hope for the future.  A very powerful workshop with a profound affect on those involved.

Koorie Youth Group Co-Facilitator – City of Casey:

“Kerryn just took her time and Koori Mail Article ART TRANSFORMS LIVES 18 June 2014put it out there and let the kids come to her. This slowly brought the crowd in until they were all involved. It shows that she was doing it right and shows the community to give an outsider a chance and through this art it has helped them explore their culture and emotions. Go with the flow is the Aboriginal way and Kerryn did just that. I feel that it all comes down to personality.” PS Youth Worker Casey Council
